Arab Banking Corporation and EXIAR hold conference on supporting exports to Middle East and North Africa

On 13 November 2013, the Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) and ABC International Bank plc (Arab Banking Corporation) held a joint conference focusing on the support of exports to the countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The event was specifically intended to inform Russian companies exporting to the MENA region of the financial support available to them to consolidate and increase sales.

First Deputy CEO Mikhail Karyakin opened the event and moderated the first session.

Among the representatives of АВС International Bank plc presenting its roles and functions were Philip Patterson, Senior Research Analyst; David Lilly, Head of European Trade Finance; and Dmitry Kuryshev, Moscow Chief Representative. The speakers expounded on the economic situation in the Middle East and North Africa following the Arab Spring, as well as shared experience and spoke on the bank's current practices for financing exports to the MENA region.

EXIAR's presentation for attendees at the event was given by Konstantin Aksyonov, Head of Customer Relation Department. His speech included detailed information on the main insurance products offered by the Agency, as well as the organisation's main principles of working with clients.

A presentation was also given by Gazprombank representative Alexander Biryuchinsky, who spoke on the bank’s experience and opportunities regarding trade finance in the MENA region.

The conference was attended by over 50 SME exporters.

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) was established in 2011 as an open joint-stock company. EXIAR’s mission is to support Russian high-tech exports by insuring export credits against commercial and political risks, as well as Russian investments abroad against political risks. Vnesheconombank is the sole shareholder of EXIAR. The agency's charter capital is RUB 30 billion.
