EXIAR acts as partner at opening ceremony of Russian exposition at first Russia-China Expo
The first Russia-China Expo is taking place from 30 June to 4 July 2014 in Harbin. This major new platform has been specifically organised to exhibit products as well as the technical and industrial capabilities of Russian manufacturers and institutions. It will also showcase the industrial and investment potential of the Russian regions, the progress of bilateral projects, and help establish new ties.
The Russian exposition includes a number of stands by companies operating in the Russian regions. Local Government leaders, representatives of Rostec Corporation, the Russian Federal Space Agency, Inter RAO, Rosatom and other companies will participate in the exhibition.
Prior to the opening of the expo, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin said that over the past few years, China has been Russia's main trade and economic partner. "Last year, trade turnover between our countries approached USD 90 billion. By 2020, we expect this figure to reach USD 200 billion", he commented at a concert marking the opening of the expo.
Rogozin also highlighted the fact that this was the first time Russia and China have worked together on organising an expo of this scale. "This event is the direct result of many years of mutually beneficial cooperation in a whole range of areas", he said.
The expo was created from the Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair, which has run from 1990–2013 and gained wide international renown. In 2013, about 300,000 professionals from 75 countries visited the fair, which featured approximately 1,900 companies from China and further afield. Eighty-two trade events took place during the fair, involving the participation of official delegations from 74 Russian regions and businesspeople from across Russia. A number of foreign trade agreements worth USD 8.69 billion (representing 79% of the total value of agreements signed at the fair) were signed between the two countries. The decision to rename the fair the Russia-China Expo was taken in October 2013.
The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) was established in 2011 as an open joint-stock company. EXIAR’s mission is to support Russian high-tech exports by insuring export credits against commercial and political risks, as well as Russian investments abroad against political risks. Vnesheconombank is the sole shareholder of EXIAR. The agency's charter capital is RUB 30 billion.
