EXIAR and Eximbank of Russia insure Metrowagonmash export contract

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) has insured Eximbank of Russia’s loan agreement with Metrowagonmash for RUB 4 billion. The loan is intended to provide Metrowagonmash with working capital to execute an export contract to reconstruct metro cars for BKV Zrt (Hungary).

In August 2015, Metrowagonwash and BKV signed an export contract to reconstruct and modernize the Budapest Metro’s electric trains (222 cars) and provide associated services (including training) and technical components (spare parts).

EXIAR is insuring RUB 4 billion worth of exports through this deal.

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) was established in 2011. EXIAR's mission is to support Russian hi-tech exports by insuring export credits against commercial and political risks, as well as Russian investments abroad against political risks. EXIAR operates as a part of Russian Export Center Group, which is the sole shareholder of EXIAR. The agency's charter capital is RUB 43.5 billion. The State Specialized Russian Export-Import Bank (Eximbank of Russia) is a subsidiary of EXIAR.

Metrowagonmash is part of Transmashholding, Russia's largest transportation construction company. The group of companies manufactures: shunting and mainline diesel locomotives, industrial and mainline electric engines, freight and passenger cars, rail cars for metro and electric trains, locomotive and marine diesel engines, track switches, traction units, car casting, and other products. Transmashholding is the top seller of rail cars in the CIS, and is among the largest manufacturers in the world. The company is also the CIS’ only manufacturer of rail cars for use in the Arctic.
