EXIAR increases cooperation with Abkhazia

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance and the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia plan to increase trade and economic cooperation.

The corresponding cooperation agreement was signed on 28 October 2014 in Sukhumi by EXIAR CEO Peter Fradkov and Prime Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia Beslan Butba.

Under the agreement, the two sides will work together in a range of areas, including supporting and fostering trade between Russian and Abkhazian companies; state import-export support for companies; developing and implementing joint investment programmes; and organising joint ventures to increase economic cooperation between relevant companies and public organisations.

The key objective of the agreement is to create an environment conducive to strengthening bilateral economic ties between Russian and Abkhazian business communities, based on robust partnerships.

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) was established in 2011 as an open joint-stock company. EXIAR’s mission is to support Russian high-tech exports by insuring export credits against commercial and political risks, as well as Russian investments abroad against political risks. Vnesheconombank is the sole shareholder of EXIAR. The agency's charter capital is RUB 30 billion.
