EXIAR signs agreement with MDM Bank

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) and MDM Bank have signed a cooperation agreement to implement a joint export working capital lending programme for SME exporters with an annual trade turnover of under RUB 2 billion.

Under the programme, the bank will provide loans to customers requiring export trade finance, with EXIAR insuring the bank against the risk of defaults on these loans.

“The agreement signed with EXIAR will help us increase our range of credit products for export-oriented SMEs. This is a particularly important development, given the current economic climate”, said Alexey Chalenko, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of MDM Bank.

EXIAR’s Managing Director for Regional Development and Support for SMEs, Andrey Polyakov, added that “the cooperation agreement between EXIAR and MDM Bank represents another step forward in developing a credit and insurance support scheme for exporters.”

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) was established in 2011 as an open joint-stock company. EXIAR's mission is to support Russian high-tech exports by insuring export credits against commercial and political risks, as well as Russian investments abroad against political risks. Vnesheconombank is the sole shareholder of EXIAR. The agency's charter capital is RUB 31 billion. Since November 2014 Eximbank of Russia, a Russian specialized government–owned export–import bank, has been a subsidiary of Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR).
