EXIAR signs first insurance contract with Russian Agricultural Bank

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) and the Khabarovsk regional branch of the Russian Agricultural Bank have signed their first export working capital credit insurance contract as part of bilateral cooperation between the two organisations.

Under the agreement, EXIAR insured a credit institution's financing of Amurzerno's export activities. These included two contracts with Marubeni Corporation to supply wheat and barley to Japan for a total of USD 4.7 million.

Export working capital credit insurance is a product designed to protect a Russian bank from the risk of a default on a loan provided to a Russian exporter (SME) to fulfil an export contract.

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) was established in 2011 as an open joint-stock company. EXIAR’s mission is to support Russian high-tech exports by insuring export credits against commercial and political risks, as well as Russian investments abroad against political risks. Vnesheconombank is the sole shareholder of EXIAR. The agency's charter capital is RUB 30 billion.

The Russian Agricultural Bank is the main credit and financial institution for Russia's agricultural industry. The bank was established in 2000. Today its assets and capital make it one of the biggest and most stable banks in the country. It is a key creditor for the industry, and ranks among the leading large Russian banks for reliability. The bank is fully owned by the state. The Russian Agricultural Bank possesses the second largest branch network in Russia, with more than 1,500 outlets across the country.

Amurzerno is the largest grain processor in Khabarovsk Territory. The company is the recipient of a European Quality gold medal, the Order of Peace, and has also been awarded numerous prizes, including 'For the Development of Russian Land', 'For the Glory of the Fatherland' and 'The Star of the Fatherland'. It has also been nominated for an international award in the 'Best Company in the CIS with an Impeccable Business Reputation' category. On 1 April 2009 the Russian government conferred the title of 'Supplier of Goods for Russian State Needs' on the company.
