EXIAR supports exports of agro-industrial products

Wednesday, 18 December 2013 – The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) took part in the 12th Grain Session, a conference organised by the Russian Grain Union with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Grain Session is an event providing a platform to discuss the most pressing issues related to the state of the grain market, as well as possible future scenarios in the sector. Attendees have a unique opportunity to speak in an open, informal environment to representatives of Russian government bodies; leading industry figures and analysts; and heads of companies involved in the grain and grain products market (including transportation companies).

EXIAR was represented at the conference by Peter Fradkov, CEO.

The conference included a session specifically focusing on currently available insurance products designed to support exporters. Fradkov gave a detailed overview of the work EXIAR does, as well as of the main products offered by the Agency to exporters of agro-industrial products. The presentation – which garnered the interest of the audience – was followed by a lively discussion on the problems and difficulties faced by exporters of agricultural products when working in foreign markets, and also on the benefits of export credit insurance. Representatives of exporting companies which had taken advantage of EXIAR's insurance products in the past shared their positive experiences of working with the Agency with other attendees at the event.

In addition to the aforementioned guests, the 12th Grain Session was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the Russian Grain Union.

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) was established in 2011 as an open joint-stock company. EXIAR’s mission is to support Russian high-tech exports by insuring export credits against commercial and political risks, as well as Russian investments abroad against political risks. Vnesheconombank is the sole shareholder of EXIAR. The agency's charter capital is RUB 30 billion.

The Russian Grain Union is one of the largest agricultural associations in Russia. It brings together 11 regional unions and more than 550 companies and organisations of all forms of ownership from across Russia focusing on a range of areas, including manufacturing; storage; cleaning; drying; disinfection; processing; trading in Russia and abroad (grain, cereal products, animal feed); quality inspections and certification; and organising the infrastructure of the grain market. Union members account for approximately 20–25% of Russian grain production, more than half of the country's flour and animal feed production, two-thirds of the market turnover of grain, and over 95% of exports of grain and grain products.
