EXIAR to develop “Made in Russia” national brand

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) has become the “Made in Russia” national brand’s General Partner. As part of its partnership, EXIAR will provide comprehensive support for developing the “Made in Russia” national brand. This project aims to be one of the key tools in creating an information policy for promoting Russian exports, business, and culture in both Russia and abroad. EXIAR began supporting the “Made in Russia” project in 2014 and organized the brand’s presentation at Milan EXPO 2015.

The “Made in Russia” project’s tasks include creating a communications system to form a unified information policy in international media and in promising sales markets. By doing so, the project aims to increase the volume of noncommodity exports, promote them, and attract potential partners and consumers. The multilingual website www.madeinrussia.ru – a media platform for promoting Russian exporters – has already been launched. In addition, a series of catalogues listing Russia export companies has also been created. The “Made in Russia” brand is already employed as a visual element for Russian exporters’ business missions that are organized by the Russian Ministry of Economic Develoment to various countries around the world.

EXIAR CEO Alexey Tyupanov remarked, “Promoting Russian exports and introducing Russian hi-tech products to new markets fully corresponds to EXIAR’s development priorities. That is precisely why this project attracted our interest. Export credit agencies like EXIAR actively participated in launching similar national programs in other countries. As such, we consider our interest in the project to be natural and beneficial. The “Made in Russia” national brand offers Russian exporters a unified system for promoting their image. It also includes a full range of tools that will help Russian manufacturers to present their products favorably when entering foreign markets. National brands are a widespread trend in many countries’ foreign trade policies. Similar brand promotion programs are being implemented by other countries. For example, “Made in…” brands already exist in Germany, Canada, the United States, China, Italy, Belarus, India, and other countries.”

Mikhail Sadchenkov, CEO for the “Made in Russia” brand, noted, “the Russian national brand has the potential to become one of the most recognizable in the world. In my opinion, developing it can significantly contribute to increasing the volume of Russian noncommodity exports.”

The Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) was established in 2011. EXIAR's mission is to support Russian hi-tech exports by insuring export credits against commercial and political risks, as well as Russian investments abroad against political risks. EXIAR operates as a part of Russian Export Centre Group. Vnesheconombank is the sole shareholder of EXIAR. The agency's charter capital is RUB 43.5 billion. The State Specialized Russian Export-Import Bank (Eximbank of Russia) is a subsidiary of EXIAR.

“Made in Russia” (www.madeinrussia.ru) is a Russian communications project that aims to promote Russia’s exports, business, and culture in Russian and foreign markets and make them more recognizable. The trigger for this project was the absence of a unified system for visually identifying Russian exports. The “Made in Russia” brand was introduced to the international business community at Milan EXPO 2015, where it was presented on Made in Russia Day at the Russian Pavilion during a visit by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov to EXPO 2015.
